We love Annie Modesitt

Thanks for visiting We Love Annie. We hope that this site will serve as a hug of support from the fiber community to Annie Modesitt and her family on their current journey. Annie's husband Gerry is battling Mulitiple Myeloma, a terminal cancer that strikes plasma cells.

Annie has graciously agreed to let us help her family. Here are a few ways that you can help out:

  • Make a donation and enter the "Six Weeks of Socks" contest. Starting July 2, we'll be drawing one name per week from that week's donations. The winner will receive a sock kit (yarn & needles). Check the blog weekly for the new sock yarn!
  • Send us your favorite Annie story (kid safe, please!) and we'll post them to the blog.
  • Send pics of your knitted/crocheted Annie designs and we'll share those as well.
  • Download the blog button (to your left) and link to us from your blog.

If you know Annie, you know her as an eclectic, sparkling, joyous person who is, above all, refreshingly honest and open about her life. On her blog, she shares all--her creative processes, her struggles, her joys and sorrows, her dry humor--and we love her for it.

We at Main Street first met Annie when she came as a guest instructor in March 2006. In the few days she was with us, we grew to love her as many of you have. As we watched this current story unfold on her blog and in conversations, our hearts ached for her and her family. We hope that the combined efforts of the fiber community can ease the pain of this situation in some small way.

If you'd like to leave a comment of support for Annie, please do so. Thank you for your time and support.

The Sexy Knitters Club will be making the Red Carpet Convertible in her honor.

While I cannot speak for the entire KAL, I will say that Annie has been a source of inspiration for me for many years and I can only hope that the entire knitting/crocheting community can give back to her and her family some of the blessings taht she has given us.

Thanks for organizing this blog - I'm sure Annie appreciates it. I just wanted to mention that she has a CafePress shop also:

We love Annie, too. We made an announcement on our podcast (Stash and Burn) that will air on July 9th. Is there a way that we can donate yarn for the raffle?

My heart and prayers go out to Annie and her family. Having worked for her I know how wonderful she is and a joy to be around. When she was here for the Sewing & Quilt Expo she made sure she came by to say "hello" and Doug, myself, Fiona Ellis and Annie had a few 'brews' together after her last class. Let's all pitch in to help and that can include any amount of $$. If we just don't buy one (1) ball of yarn it will help trememdously. I know, I've lost a number of family members to cancer and it's HELL.

My thoughts are with you Annie. At the beginning of May my son was diagnosed with leukaemia. Although the treatment is gruelling he has a 90% chance of full remission which I am so grateful for. I cannot imagine what you must all be going through. Hugs and love from France.
